1 package acai (about a 1/2 cup – slightly thawed)
1 cup blueberries
1/3 cup vanilla yogurt – I use Cabot’s vanilla (really good)
1/3 cup milk
1 to 2 tbsp chai seed – Anutra is a good choice
1 scoop vanilla protein powder – your choice (I use Dr. Harding’s special blend)
1/4 cup oats – I use the four or five grain made by Bob in the organic section
water to desired consistency (usually about a 1/4 to 1/2 cup)
Add all ingredients to powerful blender; then switch to setting to liquify or frappe — add water and push fruit down toward blade as needed to get the mixture to become a smoothie. Note – you can use whatever fruit you want. The smoothie will be semi-sweet (not as dessert-like as you get at chain smoothie shop). You can add agave nectar or honey to taste, but I try to go without to reduce carbs.
This should yield about 12 oz to 18 oz which I put in a to-go container (any leftovers I give to my boyfriend). This smoothie is not super low calorie but full of nutrients and energy. I drink it around 8 on my drive into work and I’m set until 11:30/12:00 when I eat my lunch.
